Dr. Wilhoite is a native of Chattanooga, Tenn. He earned his medical doctorate from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis in 1986. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine serving as chief resident at Quillen Dishner College of Medicine followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at East Tennessee State University in 1991.
Dr. Wilhoite has specialized in gastroenterology in Knoxville for 20 years. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association and the Tennessee Medical Association. Readers of Cityview Magazine have voted him “Top Doctor” in gastroenterology seven of the past eight years.
He lives in West Knoxville with his wife Jean Wilhoite, an advanced practice nurse. The couple has two children, daughter Hannah, a registered nurse, and son David who attends college. Dr. Wilhoite’s hobbies include hiking and fishing as well as photography, cooking and travel.
