Dr. Edmunds was born in Clifton Forge, Va., and is a graduate of the University of Virginia Medical School. Dr. Edmunds did his Internship and Residency at the University of Rochester in New York.
After completing his residency training, he was elected Chief Medical Resident as well as serving as the Medical Attending at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Edmunds subsequently completed a three-year fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va., where he was editor of numerous publications and book chapters on gastrointestinal disorders.
Dr. Edmunds currently serves as a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association. He currently is on the medical staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Dr. Edmunds is married to Dr. Kathleen Edmunds, who currently is an active obstetrician and gynecologist in private practice in Knoxville. They have three children. Leisure activities include fishing, farming and spending time with his family. He has been extremely involved in child athletic programs where he has been a youth football coach for years.
